Using CT Text
CT Text is a new feature integrated into Teams through Call Tower. Call Tower is our phone/fax carrier. This allows you to send text messages from your Teams direct number to external cell phone numbers.
The first thing you need to do to enable it is open Teams, find the ‘Apps’ icon on the left-hand side, and click on it (shown here ctText1.jpg).
That should open the ‘Apps’ menu and under where it says ‘Built for your org’ you should see the CT Text 2.0 icon. If you do not see it there you can use the search bar to search for CT Text 2.0 (both highlighted here ctText2.jpg).
Once you have found and open up the app page for CT Text 2.0 you will need to hit the purple icon that says ‘Add’ (pictured here ctText3.jpg).
We then recommend that you pin the app to your sidebar. This way it will stay there even when the app is closed. To do this you will right click on the CT Text 2.0 icon on your sidebar and then click Pin (shown here ctText4.png).
If you would like to see notifications when a text message comes in (similar to when you receive a Teams message), navigate to the “Chat” tab in CT Text and follow the instructions to sign in. You may be prompted with a Microsoft sign in screen, in which case you will use your SSO credentials. The process should look similar to this following image ctText5.png
Once you have completed these steps you are ready to text. Please note that the text messages will be sent from your Teams direct number. You can always find this on the ‘Calls’ tab in Teams.
